Reporting

PCC cares greatly about both residence hall and commuter students and can help in different ways when made aware of a concern.

You can protect yourself and your friends by simply knowing whom to contact in an emergency. As part of a caring, Christian student body, you should be alert to the safety of other students, both on and off campus.

Should you have a concern for another student’s health, wellbeing, or whereabouts, notify your Residence Assistant, Assistant Residence Manager, Residence Manager, or other Student Life personnel.

See Something, Say Something

A safe and secure campus requires a campus-wide effort. Everyone should be responsible to maintain awareness and report suspicious behavior or activity. Preventing violence may be possible with early intervention. If you see something, say something!

  1. Be aware of your surroundings: people, objects, or situations that look suspicious.
  2. Recognize early indicators often seen in people who may develop violent behavior:
    • Overt anger issues
    • Chronic social isolation
    • Fascination with weapons
    • Change in mental issues, moods, self-degrading comments
    • Stalking, harassing, prolonged staring
    • Desensitized to violence or suffering
    • Dramatic changes in behavior or appearance
  3. Report concerns to Safety and Security, even if the concern seems small or you are uncertain.
    • For immediate Security or law enforcement response to suspicious activity in progress, call 850-479-6595.
    • To report possible indicators of unusual behavior, email security@pcci.edu. Your observation will be evaluated by a threat assessment team to determine whether further evaluation, caring intervention, or ongoing awareness is warranted. All reported threats or concerns will be reviewed and action taken as necessary.
    • If for any reason you do not feel comfortable reporting a concern to College personnel, please report it directly to local law enforcement. Our campus is under the jurisdiction of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
